Tom Butler

Vice President of Public Safety & Privacy

Tom Butler is the Vice President of Public Safety & Privacy at Yellowstone Club. Tom arrived at YC in February of 2021, and he heads up all aspects of YC’s Security and Safety departments, overseeing numerous individuals in the Club’s ongoing attempts to secure both privacy and an idyllic way of life in the Montana mountains. 

A Montana native from Clancy, Tom previously ran the Montana Highway Patrol as its Colonel, over the course of a decorated 29-year career. Tom went to Jefferson High School, in Boulder, Montana, after which he attended Montana State University, in Bozeman, graduating with honors and supporting his beloved Bobcats, especially the football team, for whom he is still a steadfast season ticket holder.

Tom lives full-time in Big Sky with his wife, Gayle, who works for Lone Mountain Land Company, and their three Golden Doodles. When Tom and Gayle are not entertaining their three stepdaughters and eight grandchildren, they spend their free time at Georgetown Lake. Tom is an avid boater, golfer and enthusiastic downhill skier.
